Georgetown University's basketball coach, Patrick Ewing, may be facing the end of his tenure at his alma mater following the team's loss to Villanova in the Big East tournament. Ewing, a Hall of Fame center who played for Georgetown and the New York Knicks, has struggled as head coach, with only one winning season in six years and consecutive seasons of 6-25 and 7-25. The Hoyas have gone 75-109 under his leadership, with only one NCAA tournament appearance in 2021. Last season, they finished the regular season 0-19 in conference play, becoming the first team in the history of the Big East to do so.
